A team of Russian archaeologists working on Saqqara, near Cairo, has found the remains of the White Wall that surrounded the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis. The Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh al-Damati, has reported that the find occurred near the city of Mit Rahina, 20 kilometers south of Cairo and near Saqqara, the ancient necropolis of Memphis. In addition to parts of the White Wall, bronzes and stones have been recovered in good condition.

The Minister has stated that this discovery is useful for learn more about one of the most important capitals of the Egyptian past. Galina Belova, head of the Russian work team, said that the team is finishing the excavations in the place where they started and that they will start elsewhere in order to find more fragments of the White Wall and that they also hope to find more archaeological remains in the following excavations.

The Egyptian authorities are making numerous efforts to keep the site safe and suitable for the work of the team of Russian archaeologists.
