The Angel Cave is an archaeological project that is located in the Andalusian town of Lucena and today it is one of the most archaeological equipment in Spain, where more than 70 specialists in different fields related to archeology have been brought together. place deserves it since there are different evidence of the presence of hominids in this cave for at least 500,000 years.

It was discovered in 1995 and belongs to three archaeological sites, where until today countless objects and remains have been discovered, especially horses, deer and cattle, but also a complex network of caves.

In the cave they have found countless hominid remains as well as objects such as Acheulean hand axes and different stone tools, characteristics especially during the Middle Pleistocene. Of the stone tools found, it must be said that almost entirely remains of the last stages of the manufacture of tools with this kind of material.

According to specialists, what must be done now is a in-depth paleoanthropological study to find out if the cave actually hosted hominids 500,000 years ago or even being able to make a discovery as important as that Homo heidelbergensis had populated this cave, since this hominid evolved around 700,000 years ago, which would be quite a surprise.

But the cave was also widely used in times closer to us as shown by the sediments found in a cavity, which date back to 7,000 years old.

During this summer they took place two very interesting discoveries: more than 15 varieties of seeds were found, dated between 200,000 and 300,000 years old, which were identified as olive seeds, something that surpasses the oldest ones found that were pine nuts but these were 10 times younger, that is, they counted 20,000 years old.

Dr. Dorian Fuller, belonging to the UCL Institute of Archeology, and an expert on the origins of agriculture, has been one of the latest signings in these excavations, who has had the opportunity to give some details. He has advanced that this place can be very interesting and that the seeds and the different remains that can be found will be a great source of information that has little or nothing to envy to any other archaeological site, neither in Spain nor in another corner of the world. .

After studying History at the University and after many previous tests, Red Historia was born, a project that emerged as a means of dissemination where you can find the most important news of archeology, history and humanities, as well as articles of interest, curiosities and much more. In short, a meeting point for everyone where they can share information and continue learning.
